Information about the German Department
German is taught by approximately 35 teachers at the Robert-Bosch-Comprehensive School. Every year, there are several student teachers among them, who cannot only improve their teaching skills by learning from more experienced teachers, but who also give new ideas and impulses for teaching.
The lessons in the grades 5-10 are based on our own, new, skill oriented curriculum. This has been developed by our teachers on the basis of the core curriculum of Lower Saxony in the last few years. We are currently trying out a new curriculum for grade 11. For the lessons in the grades 12 and 13 it is most important to realize the valid requirements for the Abitur (A-Levels) preparation.
The school’s personal methodology curriculum is supposed to enable our pupils to learn and study more and more independently. In the grades 5-7, our pupils have German lessons together with their class in their home room. As of grade 8, the pupils are differentiated for their German classes according to their proficiency level into A courses for stronger pupils or B courses for weaker pupils, who require more help. What we have closest at heart is the promotion and the coaching of our pupils. We have developed our personal Robert-Bosch-Comprehensive School promotion concept. With special offers in the German Department we want to support and encourage the kids to find and improve their strengths.
About the promotion concept of the German Department
Grade 5 - Online diagnoses of skill levels (Westermann) - Coaching in small groups by an external expert (one lesson weekly) – Focus: spelling and - Internal differentiation of learner groups in German lessons
Grade 6 For pupils who did not take a third language: focussed coaching in the subjects German, English, and Maths by subject teachers (two lessons weekly, parallel to the regular language lessons).
German as a Second Language It is essential that children and youths, who grow up bilingually and whose mother tongue is not German, need special support and strengthening in lessons. This is not only true for German lessons, but for all subjects. In the last few years, pupils with a migration background have also been supported and coached through the Mercartor Project in collaboration with the University of Hildesheim. This coaching is carried out several times a week after school by university students. Besondere Angebote des Fachbereichs Deutsch im Schuljahr 2009/10 |
