Information about the Maths Department
Maths offers the successful learner “mental tools“, some of which are needed in everyday life, while others might not be needed until later in the work life. In addition to calculating skills, other skills are also required. Arguing accurately, or solving problems with Maths, for example.
In order to meet these requirements, we cooperate with each other within the Department when it comes to planning lessons and units. We try to put mathematical topics into a context which is close to the pupils’ everyday life. We also try to allow individual approaches and to strengthen the ability to learn independently. This is also tried to be accomplished by strengthening the cooperation of pupils amongst each other.
