Information about the Science Department
The comprehensive schools in Lower Saxony teach the subjects Biology, Chemistry, and Physics combined in one subject, which is called “Science”. After grade ten, however, the subjects are taught separately, like in grammar schools.
Activities of the Science Department
The lessons in the Science Department are accompanied by a variety of other activities: • The project Prima Klima in grade 6 (=“Perfect Climate“, a project about stopping the climate change) • Excursions to and projects about the nature reserve Mastberg, which are connected to the different topics covered in the lessons • Summer School on the Danish Island Aarö in grade 8 • The UNESCO Baltic-Sea-Project on Aarö in grade 11 • The marine biology excursions in Corsica • Participation in the competition Jugend forscht (=“Youth researches“) • A variety of working groups and mandatory elective subjects
We about us
In this school year there are 30 teachers who work in the Science Department. They are supported by 2 technical assistants and a varying number of freelancers.
