Only if people know their rights, and if they can articulate them, it is possible to claim these rights and to put them into practice. Therefore, education is
an essential requirement for the realization of human rights – in Germany and in every other state of the world.
The UNESCO constitution demands that the respect for human rights and basic freedoms is strengthened, and it uses education, the media, and publications to bring to everybody’s attention how important it is to bring the state’s and everybody else’s actions in line with the human rights. These facts are all stated in the General Declaration of Human Rights .  Therefore, certain topics are deeply seated in the subjects Social Studies and Religion and they reoccur regularly in the course plans of the classes.  Moreover, we have a study group, which works closely together with amnesty international and which organizes exhibitions and discussion meetings in our school. This is mostly done by older students (11th, 12th, 13th grade) who try to spread their knowledge among younger students in order to guarantee consistency when they leave the school.  In the context of human rights we also want to mention the Silent protest on November 9 which is being organized by the Robert-Bosch-Comprehensive School every year, and other activities of the Student Board.  For further examples please see the overview of projects and activities (in german language).   |
