The implementation of the UNESCO key points into the everyday lessons and the interlacing of subjects in the context of these topics were and are the core goals of our long lasting UNESCO work. The Robert-Bosch-Comprehensive School sees itself as an ambassador of the UNESCO thought. The contents that are to be taught in the coming year are always stated in a year plan during the team meetings of the different grades, which always take place on the last Thursday and Friday before the summer holidays. This common planning, which takes place outside of the school, allows teachers an intensive exchange of thoughts, always considering the topics and units chosen before. In the lessons the students learn about human rights of people and children in Germany and all over the world. They are confronted with the climate change, and our management of water, energy, and waste. The students critically examine our wealth and they commit to fighting poverty. They get curious for foreign cultures and their heritage, and they gather information about our World Heritage in Hildesheim – the St. Michael’s Church (Michaeliskirche) and the art treasures in the Cathedral of Hildesheim (Hildesheimer Dom). In many units the teachers let their subjects interlace and or organize activities, exhibitions, and events together, or do projects about the UNESCO year topics of the school.  The students are supposed to understand why it pays off to learn about the UNESCO core areas in lessons. They are supposed to comprehend correlations and to work interdisciplinarily. They are supposed to represent their opinion, alone or in a group, and they are supposed to take action with others and for others. |
