deutsche Version

In grade 12 and 13 the pupils are taught everything they need to know in order to successfully pass their Abitur exams (A-Levels).

The education offered in grade 12 and 13 is organized into four profiles: Linguistic profile, Science profile, Art profile, Social profile. The pupils have to choose one of these profiles. Afterwards they need to choose three exam subjects on advanced level, and two exam subjects on basic level, in which they will take their Abitur exams at the end of grade 13. Furthermore, they have to take other subjects, and acquire a basic knowledge in them, in order to acquire general education.

In order to qualify for university admission and to train academic working, all grade 12 and 13 pupils work together on a common frame topic in the specialist subject. In the school year of 2010/2011, grade 13 is working on the topic “Region Harz” (=“Harz Mountains and Area”) and grade 12 has decided to work on the topic “Energy”. This project is carried out in collaboration with the EVI Hildesheim (public energy supplier) and the Harzwasserwerke (German water company and dam operator with the primary tasks of supplying drinking water, generating electrical power, flood protection).

In addition to the work that is being done at school, there will be excursions in line with the topics. Grade 13 will visit the Upper Harz Water Regale, for example, which has just been declared an UNESCO World Heritage Site. An exhibition will present the results of the projects to the school public in the last semester of grade 13. The UNESCO thought is always a part of the topics’ contents, like the excursion to the World Heritage Site Rammelsberg in Goslar, for example.

Beyond the knowledge acquired in class, the Robert-Bosch-Comprehensive School offers its grade 12 and 13 pupils further out-of-school learning locations to improve their knowledge and skills.

In a mandatory internship, the pupils visit learning locations in companies, universities, public authorities, museums, etc., where they can expand and improve the knowledge and skills they have acquired in class. At the same time they gain an insight into academic jobs and their requirements.

The course trips also take the pupils to out-of-school locations, where they can gain knowledge in the subjects of their profile, but also in other subjects.

Since the school year of 2009/2010 the school has been able to offer another project for strong pupils of grade 12 and 13 in cooperation with the University of Hildesheim: In the project “HIMUN“ the pupils (who act as representatives of a UN member state) and university students plan a UN General Assembly or a conference of the Security Council and talk about a political topic. After they have successfully taken part in this project in Hildesheim, two pupils of the Robert-Bosch-Comprehensive School have attended the project at federal level in Duisburg in June 2010. They have now been offered to attend the closing event in Shanghai or New York in the school year of 2010/2011.

The project “Campus of Excellence“, initiated by the Commerzbank, also offers seminars and internships for strong pupils in companies that operate nationwide, to allow them to establish contacts and to develop product concepts and company concepts.
